Heroes

Fr. Kris, Pastor, St. Christopher Parish

We can’t say it enough, Thank You to all of our essential workers, and the businesses that are open for our communities during this crisis.

There is one essential worker who has been out there comforting the sick and greaving or just helping out the communities of St. Christopher Parish and Midlothian… Rev. Krzysztof Paluch, Pastor at St. Christopher Church or as we know and love him, “Fr. Kris.”

“Fr. Kris has been amazing. Anytime he’s asked to help a family out, he’s been there,” said Ed Hickey, Hickey’s Funeral Home and Chamber Board Member

“He’s is truly doing the Lord’s work, may the Lord keep him safe as he follows his mission.“ – Vince Schavone, President, Midlothian Area Chamber of Commerce.

If you know of any other heroes let us know… THANK YOU!!!

The Chamber Honors Lori Taylor

On July 11th at the last Midlothian Area Chamber of Commerce Networking meeting held at the Midlothian VFW Hall honored one of Midlothian’s very own, Lori Taylor. Many family (including her sons, Ray who facetimed from North Carolina, Dan, Jeff and John, and two nieces, Debbie and Heidi, from Wisconsin), friends (both local and VFW including State Auxiliary President Dept. of Illinois, Billie Guthals), Chamber members, and Village representatives including Mayor L’Heureux were on hand to honor Lori, which was a complete surprise to her. The delicious dinner was catered by Hog Wild, which provided all of Lori’s favorite dishes.

Chamber President Vince Schavone presented Lori with a beautiful plaque for her “Tireless Work and Efforts Involved in the Community,” on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, Village of Midlothian, the VFW and Auxiliary.

Karen Kreis and Helen Lekavich from Keep Midlothian Beautiful presented Lori a certificate “for random acts of kindness through the years and in appreciation for all your years of positive service to Keep Midlothian Beautiful and in making Midlothian a more beautiful community, thank you!” They also presented her with her official Keep Midlothian Beautiful shirt, tote, cookies, and a garden rock signed by everyone present.

Lori Taylor came to Midlothian in 1972 with her late husband Al Hansen and her four sons (Ray, Dan, Jeff and John). Years after the passing of her husband she remarried the first postal carrier of Midlothian, George Taylor. Most of you know Lori through her Midweek Notes column in the Midlothian Messenger. She has been a Chamber member for many years and currently serves on the Chamber Board. She serves currently as the Director of the Midlothian Historical Society.

She served the VFW Auxiliary to Midlothian Post 2580 as Past President in 1969-71 and is currently the Chaplain, as well as Past 16th District Auxiliary President in 1976-77 and Past State Auxiliary President, Department of Illinois in 1990-91. She is currently the chaplain of the Past Department Presidents Club.

She is the 16th district Scholarship Chairman, which includes Voice of Democracy for grades 9-12 and Patriots Pen for grades 6-8.

She is also a member of the St. Chris Choir and is one of the four St. Christopher petition writers which she has done for many years.

“On behalf of my family, I want to thank the Chamber, Village, and VFW for bestowing this great honor on my mother and those who came to share her day!” – Dan Hansen.
